Serverless infrastructure, container technology, or multiple clouds: Technologies like these determine current trend forecasts on cloud computing. In its outlook for 2022, Fabasoft focuses on the requirements and needs of cloud users. Infrastructure-centric approaches play a subordinate role here because more and more companies and service providers are demanding ready-made and highly customizable software for the digital handling of all business processes.
Due to the increasing scarcity of resources and heightened security awareness, basic and infrastructure development is outsourced to external specialists. Security, scalability, and agility play a central role. But what do companies and providers have to prepare for in the coming months?
It is increasingly about simple, flexible, and agile customization without programming languages. They are replaced by modeling tools such as a graphical BPMN 2.0 editor or an application designer for mapping specific workflows and entire business processes. Information is routed through the cloud increasingly structured, secure, and traceable. Fabasoft’s low-code cloud platform, for example, enables limitless digital document control by authorized persons but also by machines.
Solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) are increasingly in demand. Therefore, it is no longer just about human participation in digital document control. Cloud ecosystems must also be adapted to human-machine communication to address new market potential. A typical application scenario: A machine connected to the internet communicates with the cloud.
The sensor information arriving there is sent to the machine operator from the cloud. It can transmit the necessary configuration data for optimal operation of the IP-enabled machine back to the machine via the cloud. For example, energy suppliers can flexibly adapt their distribution capacities to consumption and analyze the data basis for new price and billing models.
If you want to outsource IT applications to the cloud, you have to prioritize security and data protection. Certifications such as the C5 certificate from the BSI show which standard a cloud provider offers in these areas. It is important to only rely on certificates and attestations from recognized bodies. There are many labels that cloud providers only receive based on a self-assessment.
Cloud ecosystems should provide companies with the best possible support for digitization processes, such as digital asset management or human capital management and contract business and contact management. By 2022, Fabasoft expects increased demand for cloud solutions that enable rapid data processing in specialist applications and easy participation in business processes from anywhere.
“In addition, more and more medium-sized companies will rely on cloud solutions that go far beyond the mere sharing of data. Dynamic process modeling and the ability to interact with people, machines, and other systems will have a decisive impact on what is happening in the market.
Constant technology monitoring for the early detection of disruptive market changes is urgently required for successful cloud providers. Another critical innovation driver is the design of new digital services. This prerequisite is to make customers, suppliers, or partners part of your extended digital organization via cloud services. Processes are thus seamlessly extended beyond the boundaries of your own company. A new quality in terms of transparency from the company to the stakeholder and vice versa is emerging and is the basis for a new dimension of knowledge and thus for new digital services.
